Introduction
My name is Dana Ewing, and I am a freshman attending Grove City College to study Special and Elementary Education. After graduating in 2022, I want the opportunity to teach and inspire children from all walks of life. Ever since I was little, I have dreamed of becoming a teacher. I always played school with my dolls and even set up small classrooms in my house to "teach" my friends. Teaching is in my blood. When I reached high school, I received the opportunity to take a Preschool class, in which my instructor assigned me three little girls with varying levels of ability in all areas of development. Given the task of designing individual lesson plans along with group lessons, I set about to provide the best education for those kids. Teaching those children never failed to fill my heart with joy. Even now, I feel a rush of energy when I step foot in a classroom. Fun Facts 1. My family dynamic has shaped how I communicate with others. I have an identical twin sister and a brother who is only 18 months younger than me. Growing up alongside two people who are basically the same age as me has taught me the importance of respect and collaboration with peers. 2. I love to organize and clean! When I feel stressed out, straightening my room relieves tension and allows me to breathe a little easier. 3. Music connects me to the world around me. I used to play the flute, but my true passion lies in singing. It releases my emotions. 4. I have been babysitting since my preteen years, which has increased my imagination and inspired me to love people the way that children devote themselves to others. 5. Reading rejuvenates my soul and challenges my mind. I always appreciate book suggestions! Why Teaching Excites Me Every step of the teaching process brings me joy in its own way. Because I love to organize and design things, I cannot wait to build a classroom that stimulates students' minds and instills in them a love for learning. I also look forward to crafting lesson plans that take each student's individual needs into consideration. They deserve to feel like they matter. Those "Aha!" moments when students finally understand a concept fuel teachers to continue challenging their kids. Teaching is all about setting goals and watching students move one step closer to achieving their dreams. I am overjoyed to take part in the entire process. |
